The Control Unit consist of several parts.
1) At the far right can be seen voltage regulation elements that provide both 5 and 3 Volt outputs for the remainder of the device.
2) Next, a long-delay RC network provides a significant enough delay to simulate a button press, thereby triggering the voice clock to time stamp the recording.
3) A relay (center bottom) is driven by the 5-Volt output during the on-cycle of the SSAC timer to close a connection between the 3-Volt output and the Walkman.
4) At the far left, control switches turn on or off both the time-stamping feature and the power of the device.
